“ A good place to hang out and grab a bite would summarize this spot. We got the fried gyoza, yuzu shio ramen, and tonkotsu ramen. They were all decent taste wise. I wouldn't get the gyoza again but the Yuzu Shio ramen charsu pork was reaaally soft and tender and delicious! The broth was unique and nice too. It was a good amount of food. The presentation of the food was nice, and the ambiance is lively and social. It's a good spot for a big group since they have long tables. The service was also good; they did what they needed to do and were friendly. Overall this is a decent spot but overpriced. ”

“ A friend and I had a appointment down the street in the evening and we both were craving either sushi or ramen. Without much resolution to either side, Afuri had both options so we decided to pay them a visit. Ambiance: Located on Mateo street, you can easily miss Afuri if your not looking for it. But let me tell you, your missing out. With a modern aesthetic, It certainly doesn't feel like a ramen house. But, its not a bad thing. It feel right considering Afuri is located in the Arts District. The staff were hospitable and friendly and we had a choice of seating. We arrived at around 5:30pm on a Tuesday so it wasn't busy at all. Food: I wanted something small, so I ordered the Tori Karaage and a Tempura Shrimp Roll with a Edamame for the table. The Tori Kaarage was crispy and amazingly not that heavy nor greasy. With a dash of lemon on top, it was the perfect appetizer to pair with my Shrimp Tempura Roll. The Shrimp tempura roll was a tad disappointing as I was expecting a large crunch from the tempura batter, but alas, the roll lacked that crunch I was eagerly anticipating. I topped my experience with a Toki Highball which brightened up my spirits. Overall, parking is easy and having so many options makes Afuri a repeatable visit contender. They are known for their ramen, so I look forward to coming back and getting a taste! If your nearby, I recommend to swing in and grab a drink and enjoy! ”

“ Really good, solid ramen! Not my favorite personally, but this is absolutely down to palette and personal preference. I think the ingredients and quality is really high. I like the layout and design of the restaurant, and the vibes overall. Staff is prompt and friendly. Took our orders quickly and brought our food out in a timely fashion. I got the yuzu shio ramen and it was really tasty! Yuzu flavor really comes out. But in general, this isn't the heavy sort of ramen I typically crave/expect, but I'd absolutely still come here again, especially to try other items on their menu. Parking is a pain! Area gets crowded, although I believe there's a parking lot that's like $5 or something? Managed to get street parking a few blocks away, but it gets sketchy at night so be wary if you try doing that! ”

“ Afuri was right next to a bar that my group was at, so this was the pick for dinner. We went around 8:30 pm and were able to get seated after a brief wait. There plenty of seating available at the time. They had a big menu, so we took some time to decide. Since it was a cold weather, ramen was definitely the pick. I ordered the yuzu shoyu. I really enjoyed this and felt the flavor was perfect. It wasn't overly salty like some other ramen places. For the service, I felt it was quick. The staff grabbed our orders, delivered the order, and process our payment in a timely manner. When it came to payment, they do accept American Express. They also have a reward system that gives you points for dollars spent, which I thought was neat. ”

I had the duck ramen (a special they seem to offer occasionally), and it was nothing short of amazing. The broth was rich, savory, and so flavorful that I didn't leave a single drop behind. Feeling indulgent, I decided to add crispy ramen eggs and a spicy tuna roll as sides. The spicy tuna roll was a pleasant surprise--it could easily hold its own at a dedicated sushi bar. The crispy ramen eggs had amazing texture. A real treat. Whether you're in the mood for comforting ramen or want to mix it up with some standout sushi, this place is worth a visit! It does get fairly busy so just a heads up on that part. I was solo so grabbed a seat at the bar which was quick! ”

“ Vegetarian review: loved the fried hard broiled egg appetizer. Reminds me of a vegetarian karaage. I ordered a second one. The kid's vegetarian sushi wasn't bad. As a vegetarian, I was thankful they had the option. It's not what you would get at an all vegetarian sushi restaurant but something you would expect at a non vegetarian restaurant. Simple and fills you. It's a great option. My kids ate it. I'm sure the vegetarian option in the regular /adult menu is better. Wasn't hungry enough to try the ramen. Edamame was a hit with the kids. Ramune drink didn't have high fructose corn syrup. The kids loved them. Other non vegetarian kids enjoyed their kid's ramens and karaage. Service was great. They accept Apple Pay. Free Street Parking at 2:30p on Sunday afternoon wasn't bad. Coming back for the fried egg appetizer. ”

“ Came here for the beers after seeing a reel by @loculize_la on IG and it did not disappoint! The frozen slush on top of the beer is citrusy and adds a nice refreshing taste to the beer. Highly recommend ordering it if you pay a visit. My friend and I started off with the fried dumplings and spicy chicken karage as our appetizers which were good. Dumplings were soft and crispy and the karage was good, but caught me off guard because it looked like a meatball but was just chunks of chicken inside. We also got a spicy ramen (forgot to take a picture) based on our server's recommendation and it also had a nice citrusy flavor to it which had a nice refreshing flavor. Ambiance of the place was great and the service here was excellent as well. Definitely will come back soon! ”
